Creatures of Sonaria Abilities: 66 Active, 75 Passive

Updated 2026-09-08 · Last verified 2026-09-08 · Roblox Creatures of Sonaria

Creatures of Sonaria has 66 distinct active ability names and 75 distinct passive ability names spread across its 481 released creatures. The most common active is Grab, on 89 creatures; the most common passive is Block Bleed, on 436 of them, which is 91 per cent of the roster.

Everything on this page is counted from the game's own structured creature table, at the 4 September 2026 revision. That date matters: the table is edited every couple of days, so a count taken next month will differ, and any ability page that does not say which revision it read cannot be checked.

How the two ability fields are structured

Each creature record carries two ability fields, activated and passive, and both are plain comma-separated strings. Most entries are a name followed by a value in brackets.

That structure is why ability counts disagree between sources. Count the raw entries and you get 181 distinct active strings and 585 distinct passive strings. Strip the brackets and you get 66 active names and 75 passive names. Neither number is wrong, they answer different questions, and this page uses the stripped names for frequency because that is what a player actually chooses between.

The gap is not academic. Burrower appears on 91 creatures, but in the raw field it is split into Burrower (1), (2), (3), (4) and a bare Burrower, so no single string cracks the top three. Spite is on 47 creatures across roughly twenty different values, the largest of which covers only 8, so it never appears in a raw-entry ranking at all.

Bracketed values come in four shapes:

  • A resistance ratio, used by the whole Block family. Block Bleed (1.00) renders on the source wiki as 100 per cent resistance, and Block Poison (0.25) as 25 per cent.
  • A level, used by Burrower (1) through (4) and Diver (4).
  • A named payload, where the bracket holds another effect rather than a number. Charge takes one of five: Launch (30 creatures), Gore (30), Power (27), Throw (23) and Crush (23). Lich Mark, Yolk Bomb, Aura and Totem work the same way, as in Yolk Bomb (Fortify) or Aura (Disease).
  • A bare magnitude with no documented unit, such as Injury Attack (8), Agile Swimmer (68) or Unbreakable (25). The source material records the naming convention but not the scale. This page does not guess what those numbers mean, and neither should any other.

One convention is documented and worth memorising, because it is the difference between three passives that read alike:

Prefix or suffixWhat it doesExample
X AttackApplies the status to whatever you biteBleed Attack, 194 creatures
Defensive XReflects the status back at whoever bites youDefensive Poison, 69 creatures
Block XPercentage resistance to that statusBlock Bleed, 436 creatures

A negative Block value inverts the last row: it means extra vulnerability, not resistance. Kelvaris carries Block Frostbite (-0.25).

Most common active abilities

Counted by ability name across all 481 creatures, so numbered variants such as Burrower (1) and Burrower (4) are pooled.

Two of these are strongly size-coded. Grab is absent from Tier 1 entirely and appears on 4 Tier 2, 25 Tier 3, 38 Tier 4 and 22 Tier 5 creatures. Burrower runs the other way: 39 Tier 1, 40 Tier 2, 10 Tier 3, 2 Tier 4 and none at Tier 5. Egg Stealer follows Burrower, with 28 of its 65 carriers at Tier 1.

Passives are far denser than actives. A creature carries between 1 and 22 passives, with the most common load being 8, while actives run 0 to 5.

The Block family

Eight of the 75 passive names begin with Block, and together they are the largest cluster in the data by a wide margin. All eight are percentage resistances to a status effect, and their values are directly comparable to each other, which is unusual in this dataset.

Radiation11223%0.650.2080
Necropoison8317%0.75-0.50341
Disease419%0.60-0.50137

Three things fall out of that table.

Block Bleed is close to a baseline rather than a perk. At 91 per cent coverage it says more about the 45 creatures that lack it than the 436 that have it. Radiation, by contrast, is on under a quarter of the roster but never appears as a weakness, and its median value of 0.65 is the second highest, so where it exists it is meaningful.

Necropoison is the most binary. Only 83 creatures carry it, but 34 of those carry it at 1.00, which is full immunity. Angelic Warden is one, with Block Necropoison (1.00) alongside Breath Resistance (0.9).

Burn is the most common designed weakness. Of 162 Block Burn entries, 35 are negative. Across all eight statuses there are 80 negative Block entries, held by 66 different creatures, so roughly one creature in seven is deliberately built with an exploitable hole.

Block density also tracks size. Tier 5 creatures carry 4.00 Block entries on average against 1.88 at Tier 1, and 463 of 481 creatures carry at least one. Two creatures carry all eight. If you are picking on survivability rather than output, the tankiest creatures page pairs this with raw health.

3Medium1261.938.012.56
4Large1311.797.982.88
5Enormous1001.759.444.00

Actives fall as size rises and passives rise with it. That is a design pattern, not a power curve, and it is a useful corrective to the habit of reading Tier as a strength ladder. Remember that Tier in this game means body size: the source wiki says size is only sometimes proportional to damage and health, and the tier explainer shows where it is not.

Twenty-eight creatures have no active ability at all, including Hygos, which is tied for the highest damage in the game at 650, and Kavouradis, which has 15,000 health. Eight creatures sit at the ceiling of five actives, and seven of those eight are Tier 1 to 3.

Where a stat ranking runs out

This is the honest limit of everything else on this site. Rankings by damage, health or speed are computed and checkable, but they cannot tell you how a creature plays, because the ability kit is not on a scale you can sort.

Twenty-two creatures share a damage value of exactly 300. Between them they carry 19 distinct active kits.

Caldonterrus and Hallucinix have identical bite damage. One has 14,500 health, 50 sprint and a single rage active. The other has 1,900 health, 89 sprint and a five-ability kit built on invisibility and life drain. A damage column cannot separate them, and a subjective letter grade separates them without showing why. The same holds at the very top: Arachyu, Hygos and Whispthera all sit at 650 damage, and their actives are Grab plus Harden, nothing at all, and Life Leech respectively.

So the method has a boundary, and it is worth stating plainly rather than papering over. What is computable here is which abilities exist and how often, which is what this page delivers. What is not computable is how much each one is worth, because the data records no numeric effect for most of them, and no hitbox, animation length or handling data exists in any source we would trust. Every published tier list for this game, including the ones that copy each other, resolves that gap by asserting an opinion. This site resolves it by naming it.

For the measured fields, start with compare stats or the tier list. For anything about what a creature is worth in trade, this site does not cover values: accurate valuation lives inside two private marketplaces we cannot source, so a number here would be invention.

Frequently asked questions

How many abilities are there in Creatures of Sonaria?

Across the 481 released creatures there are 66 distinct active ability names and 75 distinct passive ability names, counted from the game's own stat table at the 4 September 2026 revision. The raw fields hold more entries than that, because most names appear several times with different bracketed values. There are 181 distinct active entries and 585 distinct passive name-and-value combinations.

What is the most common ability in Creatures of Sonaria?

Block Bleed is the most common passive, carried by 436 of 481 creatures, or 91 per cent of the roster. The most common active is Grab, on 89 creatures, followed by Egg Stealer on 65 and Invisibility on 42. Burrower actually appears on 91 creatures, but it is split across four numbered levels in the data, so it is easy to miss when you count raw entries instead of names.

What do the numbers in brackets after a passive mean?

It depends on the passive. For the Block family the number is a resistance ratio, so Block Bleed (1.00) is full immunity to bleed and the wiki renders it as 100 per cent. A negative value means extra vulnerability rather than resistance, and 80 entries across the roster are negative. For Attack and Defensive passives, and for values such as Agile Swimmer (68) or Unbreakable (25), the source material records no unit, so this page does not assert one.

Does a creature with more abilities beat one with fewer?

No, and the data shows why the question does not resolve cleanly. Twenty-eight creatures have no active ability at all, and one of them is Hygos, which is tied for the highest damage in the game at 650. Tier 1 creatures average 3.24 actives while Tier 5 average 1.75, because small creatures are given utility kits and large ones are given raw numbers.

Which creatures have the most active abilities?

Eight creatures carry five actives, the maximum in the data: Dalitil, Fernifly, Hallucinix, Ibetchi, Kyiki, Lithumbra, Noctivul and Ovufu. Seven of the eight are Tier 1, 2 or 3, and five of them include Egg Stealer. No creature in the released roster carries six.

Can you rank creatures by their abilities?

Not honestly. The stat table records which abilities a creature has, not what each one does numerically, so there is no shared scale to sort on. This site ranks the fields that are measured, such as damage, health and sprint speed, and treats the ability kit as the reason those rankings need reading rather than obeying.
