Method and sources
This site does not try to be a general Creatures of Sonaria encyclopedia. There already is one, it has 1,697 articles and 157 active editors, and it is very good at what it does: one thorough page per creature.
What it does not do, because of how it is organised, is compare creatures against each other. That layer is almost empty across the whole web, and where it is filled, it is filled with opinion.
Where the numbers come from
The game's own creature data is published as a structured table covering all 481 released creatures with 51 fields each, including damage, health, sprint speed, stamina, weight, turn rate, growth time, night vision, oxygen and moisture timers, and the named active and passive abilities. Every ranking on this site is computed directly from that table.
That means our rankings are reproducible. Where we say a creature sits at a given position, the number that put it there is printed next to it, and the version date of the data is printed on the page. If the game rebalances, the ranking moves and the date changes.
Why we started here
We checked the tier lists currently ranking for this game. Between them they cover the same few dozen popular creatures and grade them SS, S, A, B and C. Not one of them cites a single one of the 51 fields. One of them is a word-for-word copy of another, with the creature order in the top two grades identical.
That is not a criticism of anyone's judgement. A subjective tier list from an experienced player is genuinely useful. But it cannot be checked, it cannot be extended past the creatures the author happens to know, and it goes stale silently. A computed one can be all three.
What a computed ranking cannot tell you
Stats are not the whole game. Ability interactions, hitbox shape, how a creature actually handles in a fight, and what the current player base does with it are all real and none of them are in the table. Where a ranking would mislead without that context, we say so on the page rather than letting the arithmetic speak for itself.
We also do not silently convert size into strength. The game classifies creatures Tier 1 to Tier 5 by body size, and the community wiki itself notes that size is only sometimes proportional to power. The data agrees: several Tier 2 and Tier 3 creatures out-damage the median Tier 5. Any list that treats tier as a power ranking is measuring the wrong thing.
What is out of scope
We do not publish trading values. Accurate valuations come from live marketplace data held by two trading platforms, we have no way to source it, and a second-hand copy would be a stale imitation of theirs.
We also do not duplicate per-creature lore, appearance galleries or event history. The community wiki does that properly and there is no reason for a worse version of it to exist.
